RIGA, Feb 1 (LETA) - Latvijas Valsts Celi (LVC) state road manager has launched implementation of the bicycle traffic development, LETA learned from the Transport Ministry's parliamentary secretary Janis Butans (New Conservative Party).

In the first quarter of this year, LVC will announce a tender for studying bicycle traffic in the direction from Riga to Carnikava, Saulkrasti and Valmiera.

The main bicycle roads are planned in several directions - also from Riga to Jelgava, Tukums, from Rezekne to Ludza, from Jekabpils to Livani.

"Many people are using bicycle as the means of transport to get to work, school and other destinations. Therefore, in parallel to roads program, we have started the bicycle traffic development program," the Transport  Ministry's parliamentary secretary reported.
