RIGA, Jan 20 (LETA) - The actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 7.1 percent at the end of December 2025, the same percentage year on year, the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) said on Tuesday.

Over the month, joblessness also rose by 0.2 percentage point, the CSB reported.

The unemployment rate for women rose 0.1 percentage points to 5.8 percent, whereas unemployment for men rose by 0.3 percentage point to 8.4 percent.

In December, there were 68,000 unemployed people in Latvia. Their number grew by around 1,700 from November and by 2,400 from December 2024. The number of unemployed men increased by around 1,500 month on month to 40,100, and the number of unemployed women rose by around 200 to 27,900.

The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency was 5 percent at the end of December, rising by 0.2 percentage point from November. Compared to December 2024, the registered unemployment rate declined by 0.3 percentage point.
