RIGA, Oct 2 (LETA) - Rigas Siltums district heating utility's heating tariff for Riga will increase twofold, from EUR 85.45 per megawatt-hour (MWh) to EUR 170.59 per MWh, according to the Public Utilities Commission's decision printed in government gazette Latvijas Vestnesis.

The tariff's heating generation component will increase 2.2 times, from EUR 63.86 per MWh to EUR 139.13 per MWh, heat transmission and distribution component will increase 51 percent, from EUR 19.31 per MWh to EUR 29.18 per MWh, while trade component will remain unchanged at EUR 1.48 per MWh.

The Public Utilities Commission points out that, effective October 1, state support will automatically apply to households' heating bills.

As reported, the state will pay 90 percent of the part of heating prices that exceed EUR 150 per MWh and compensate 50 percent of prices over EUR 68 per MWh and up to EUR 150 per MWh.
