Latvian-made interceptor drones to be demonstrated at Selija training grounds
RIGA, Oct 1 (LETA) - On Friday, October 3, the Selija military training grounds will host a demonstration of Latvian-made interceptor drones, organized by the Autonomous Systems Competence Center in cooperation with Latvian entrepreneurs, the Ministry of Defense informed LETA.
The event will be attended by Defense Minister Andris Spruds (Progressives), the head of the Autonomous Systems Competence Center Major Modris Kairiss and the center's experts, representatives of the National Armed Forces, as well as Latvian drone manufacturers.
"The superiority of drone technology is one of the cornerstones of successful defense and deterrence. Therefore, it is essential to develop efficient and innovative drone systems in Latvia, in order to manufacture and deploy them in the National Armed Forces," said Spruds.
Two companies, Belss and Origin Robotics, will demonstrate drone interceptors at the event. Belss' Eraser model i8 drone interceptor system works with radars and uses machine vision to autonomously and immediately neutralize enemy drones upon operator acceptance.
Origin Robotics will demonstrate the Blaze unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) interceptor, designed to intercept and destroy enemy drones and other fast-flying aerial targets. It is an easily transportable and rapidly deployable solution that combines radar data with machine vision technologies to detect, track and neutralize enemy drones in flight with high precision, providing an autonomous and cost-effective complement to air defense.
The event will feature live demonstrations of various interception operations, from autonomous flight maneuvers to real-time collision scenarios.
A team of experts from the Autonomous Systems Competence Center will explain more about drone technology and answer questions.
