One third of Ukrainian refugees in Jelgava municipality accommodated in municipal buildings

RIGA, Aug 11 (LETA) - Of the 433 Ukrainian war refugees currently living in the territory of the central Latvian municipality of Jelgava, 140 people have been accommodated in municipal premises, LETA was told at the local government.

The rest of the Ukrainians are staying with local households or in private tourist accommodation establishments.

According to the local authority, Jelgava municipality is not taking in more refugees at the moment as its capacity to accommodate them has been exhausted.

The local authority would not make any predictions how the situation might change in September when schoolchildren return to dormitories which currently have become a temporary home to the refugees. Representatives of the Jelgava municipality said that it is not yet clear how many students will need the school dorms.
