Series of regular military exercises kicks off in eastern Latvia

RIGA, March 9 (LETA) - A series of regular military exercises in eastern Latvia kicked off on Monday and will continue throughout the year with the aim of strengthening comprehensive national defense and improving interoperability between national security services, LETA was told at the National Armed Forces (NAF).

During the exercise, the NAF will train the movement of units to be able to protect Latvia in different conditions at any place and time, as well as improve interoperability with the State Border Guard, the State Police, and allies.

The NAF emphasizes that joint exercises strengthen cooperation between institutions and improve interoperability of the NAF with other security structures and allies, ensuring more efficient execution of national defense tasks.

In response to changing security challenges, Latvia's national defense system is being developed as a comprehensive one, based on the readiness of state authorities and society to overcome crises and strengthen resilience to external threats.
