Vaza unanimously elected as chairman of Tukums municipal council
Riga, June 30 (LETA) - On Monday, Gundars Vaza (Latvian Association of Regions) was unanimously elected chairman of the Tukums regional council.
Vaza was the only candidate for the post of the council chairman. 16 out of 19 deputies who were present at the council meeting voted for him.
As reported, the Latvian Association of Regions, represented by the incumbent mayor Gundars Vaza, won ten out of 19 seats in the local elections.
The second place with 18.79 percent of the votes or four seats at the council were won by the party For Tukums Town and Region.
The National Alliance won 12.12 percent of the votes, with three seats, and Latvia's Green Party won 11.79 percent of the votes, with two seats.
