New Conservative Party's Rubens elected chairman of Livani Region Council
RIGA, June 26 (LETA) - Davids Rubens (New Conservative Party) was elected chairman of Livani Region Council by nine votes to six on Thursday, replacing long-time council chairman Andris Vaivods.
Rubens was the only candidate nominated by councilors.
The New Conservative Party took 34.7 percent of the vote in local elections in Livani municipality, winning six seats on the council.
A joint ticket of For Latvia's Development, New Unity and the National Alliance won five seats on the council, the Latvian Green Party three and Harmony one.
