RIGA, Aug 11 (LETA) - At least 63 percent of the Riga Municipal Police staff have been vaccinated against Covid-19, the police chief Juris Lukass informed the Riga City Council security, public order and corruption prevention committee lawmakers today.
He said that theses were the data for August 2, when 63 percent of the Municipal Police staff had completed the vaccination course.
Lukass said that he has not information about the fact that the requirement for mandatory vaccination might cause any problems in organization of work in the police.
The committee in a meeting today plans to discuss ways of motivation, reduction of workload and increase of wages for the municipal police.
As reported, Saeima has endorsed draft amendments to the Law on the Management of the Spread of Covid-19 Infection authorizing employers to sack employees without valid Covid-19 certificates as of October 1. The new regulation also makes Covid-19 certificates mandatory for employees of health care institutions, nursing homes and social rehabilitation institutions, as well as teachers.
