Jekabpils Hospital considering possibility of using the city cemetery chapel to place deceased patients
RIGA, Nov 3 (LETA) - If necessary, Jekabpils Hospital could use the city cemetery chapel to place deceased patients, but so far this solution is only an idea, hospital representative Lasma Vindule informed LETA.
She explains that during the current Covid-19 crisis, there are moments when the morgue of Jekabpils Regional Hospital approaches the limit of its capacity.
Therefore, the hospital has addressed the Jekabpils Regional Council to seek common solutions to this situation, for example, by using the Jekabpils city cemetery chapel. However, this issue is still under negotiation.
In turn, Daugavpils Regional Hospital has already created a separate morgue for deceased Covid-19 patients.
"If there is such a need, the corpses can be stored in the morgue in two layers, but at the moment this is not necessary," says Daugavpils Hospital representative Gundega Gronska.
