Ruling coalition in Adazi to change; Latvian Association of Region to keep post of mayor
RIGA, Oct 20 (LETA) - As some members of the Adazi local council who have been elected to the Saeima are leaving the council in November, the municipality's ruling coalition is going to change as well, but the Latvian Association of Regions (LRA) is expected to keep the post of Adazi mayor.
Adazi mayor Maris Sprindzuks is one of the councilors that have been elected to Latvia's parliament. His deputy Karina Mikelsone (LRA) is tipped to replace him as the next Adazi mayor.
Mikelsone told LETA that discussions on this matter had taken place, and if nominated, she would be ready to assume the post.
In Adazi, LRA might build the new coalition with the Latvian Farmers' Union (LZS), which so far has been sitting in opposition. LRA's current coalition partners, meanwhile, will likely be left outside of the new coalition. If members of the Adazi council agree on such a coalition, it will have ten out of the 15 votes on the council.
According to information obtained by LETA, the Adazi council might assemble to decide on the new coalition and mayor at the beginning of November.
