Riga, June 6 (LETA) - Riga municipality will support a total of 37 plans to promote commercial activities on the ground floors of buildings with EUR 200,000, LETA was informed by Riga City Council.

The municipality said that all the co-financing earmarked for this year's program which intends to promote commercial activities in the historic center of Riga and its protection zone, has been used.

Recognizing that entrepreneurship often involves significant financial investments, owners of premises, as well as existing or new tenants, could apply for municipal co-financing of up to EUR 10,000 to cover various expenses.

The co-financing was granted for the costs of adapting or renovating the premises, for the placement of landscaping elements in the public open space, for the visual design of shop windows, for the placement of signs, and for one month's rent for the premises.

The budget for the program approved in 2025 was EUR 200,000. The call for applications for co-funding is now closed for this year.

Co-financing of EUR 120,000 is available for the organization of events in 2025. Up to EUR 20,000 can be granted to cover the costs of organizing an event. The first co-funding has also already been approved for this program, giving citizens the opportunity to enjoy their first free event in September.

For events to be held between September and December 2025, businesses are invited to submit their applications by June 30, 2025.

Both these support programs are expected to run for three years.
