Latvijas Pasts opens 18 new-concept customer centers in Riga and the regions this year
RIGA, Dec 25 (LETA) - National postal company Latvijas Pasts has opened 18 new-concept customer centers in Riga and the regions this year, Ģirts Rudzitis, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, told LETA.
He said that Latvijas Pasts would continue its work on opening new concept customer centers next year.
Rudzitis noted that by opening the new customer centers, people have access to postal and payment services in a comfortable and modern environment, most often also in the evenings and on weekends. The services are also accessible to people with functional disabilities and parents with baby strollers.
At the same time, Latvijas Pasts improved the accessibility of its services in other regions this year by opening face-to-face service points in premises owned by municipalities. Thus, customers have the opportunity to provide a wide range of services in one place, combining state, municipal and postal services, emphasized the head of Latvijas Pasts.
Rudzitis informed that this year the company revised the opening hours of post offices in order to balance the possibilities for working people to receive face-to-face services on one of the weekday evenings.
He said that it was important for Latvijas Pasts to ensure accessibility of services to all residents of Latvia by offering them both in person and in the digital environment, therefore this year the company invested in the improvement of both types of services. Including in 2025, by attracting investments, Latvijas Pasts automated the letter sorting process to reduce costs and ensure sustainable redistribution of resources.
The renewal of Latvijas Pasts' fleet is also essential. It is planned that by spring 2026 Latvijas Pasts will introduce 150 hybrid cars into the daily routine of its postmen, while in the three-year period from 2026 to 2028 the company will purchase about 100 electric cars, the company's CEO said.
Latvijas Pasts' turnover last year was EUR 93.743 million, down 13.4 percent from 2023, and the company made a loss of EUR 111,203, compared with a profit the year before.
Latvijas Pasts provides postal services throughout the territory of Latvia. The company provides domestic and international deliveries, ranging from e-commerce and parcel deliveries to press, letter correspondence and personalized logistics solutions. Latvijas Pasts is a wholly state-owned company with approximately 1,700 employees.
