Riga councilor Erenpreiss to join National Alliance
RIGA, Jan 28 (LETA) - Lauris Erenpreiss, a member of the Riga City Council who recently quit New Unity party is joining the National Alliance and its group on the city council, Riga Vice Mayor Edvards Ratnieks (National Alliance/Latvian Association of Regions) told LETA.
Riga councilors of the National Alliance/Latvian Association of Regions on Tuesday decided to admit Erenpreiss to the political group, increasing the number of its members to ten.
According to Ratnieks, Erenpreiss' membership of the group will allow to strengthen the group's position on the Riga City Council. His knowledge and experience will be a good contribution to the work of the political group.
Erenpreiss said that his decision to join the National Alliance/Latvian Association of Regions team was a well-considered one and that he has confidence in the group's ability to deliver "big things".
As reported, Erenpreiss announced his decision to leave the Unity party and resign from the New Unity group on the city council after the adoption of the 2025 municipal budget.
