Latvian unemployment rate above EU/euro area average in March - Eurostat
RIGA, May 6 (LETA) - Latvia's unemployment rate was 6.7 percent in March, which is above the European Union (EU) and euro area average, according to the latest data released by the EU statistics office Eurostat.
In March 2025, the highest unemployment rates among EU member states were reported in Spain (10.9 percent), Finland (9.1 percent), Greece (9 percent), Sweden (8.8 percent), Estonia (8.7 percent), and France (7.3 percent). Unemployment in Lithuania was at 6.4 percent in March.
The lowest unemployment rates were reported in the Czech Republic (2.6 percent), Poland (2.7 percent), Malta (2.8 percent), Slovenia (3.2 percent), Germany (3.5 percent), and Bulgaria (3.8 percent).
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the EU was 5.8 percent in March, and joblessness in the euro area was at 6.2 percent.
Eurostat data show that 12.904 million people in the bloc were out of work in March, including 10.818 million people in euro area countries.
