Riga, Dec 15 (LETA) - On Thursday, December 18, Health Minister Hosams Abu Meri (New Unity) will pay a working visit to Bauska municipality to discuss current health care issues and hear the vision of the heads of local health institutions on the development of the sector, LETA was informed by the municipality.

The municipality has taken the initiative to invite the minister to visit the municipality in order to improve the healthcare system.

The minister will be accompanied by the Director of the National Health Service Aris Kasparans, the Head of the Health Inspectorate Antra Valdmane, the Director of the Health Care Department Sanita Janka and other representatives of the Health Ministry.

The aim of the visit is to strengthen the dialogue between the state institutions and regional health care institutions in order to jointly find solutions to improve the accessibility and quality of health care in Bauska region and throughout Latvia. Special attention will be paid to the reform of the hospital network and health service quota issues. The minister will discuss these topics with the leadership of the regional council, lawmakers, as well as the heads of Bauska Hospital and Zemgale Oral Health Centre.

The minister will continue his visit by visiting the Bauska Hospital, where he will get acquainted with the hospital's development plans and gain an insight into the institution's activities. At the Zemgale Oral Health Centre, he will discuss oral health care for children and access to services.

In the afternoon, the minister will visit the Bauska Hospital branches in Iecava and Vecumnieki to see first-hand the work and challenges of the regional units. At the end of his visit, he will visit the private dental practice of Laura Manusa-Silova of Manusa in Vecumnieki, where the availability and quality of dental services will be discussed.
