Lithuanian PM, carriers to discuss steps to delay spread of UK coronavirus mutation
VILNIUS, Jan 13, BNS – Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte is meeting with carriers' representatives on Wednesday to discuss how to reduce the risk of a new mutated form of the coronavirus, first identified in the United Kingdom, spreading into Lithuania.
“The carriers were invited to a meeting on the management of the pandemic and the new virus strain found in Britain," Rasa Jakilaitiene, the prime minister's spokesman, told BNS.
"The council of experts has various proposals on how to postpone the spread of the virus mutation to Lithuania," she added.
The meeting is to be attended by Romas Austinskas, president of the national road carriers' association LINAVA, Sigitas Zilius, director-general of the Lithuanian Carriers' Union, and Povilas Drizas, secretary-general of the International Transport and Logistics Alliance.
