Government supports bill dissolving Dundaga Region Council
RIGA, May 11 (LETA) - The Cabinet of Ministers today approved legislation dissolving Dundaga Region Council.
As reported, by endorsing the legislation Saeima will dissolve the Dundaga local council as it is not able to ensure the functions stipulated in the legislation.
Environment Protection and Regional Development Ministry's leading expert Maris Sults will be appointed the administrator at the Dundaga local council.
The administration has to perform the function of the local council, ensure uninterrupted operation of the municipal institutions, carry out financial and business activities.
The administration will work until the day the newly elected council of Talsi county convenes the first meeting.
LETA also reported, Environment Protection and Regional Development Minister Arturs Toms Pless (For Development) has decided to initiate dissolution of the Dundaga regional council.
Since the Dundaga council has proven unable to elect a chairperson and vice-chair and has suggested in its reply to the ministry that it will make no further attempts to elect its leadership, the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry will submit to the government a bill to dissolve the Dundaga council, Pless informed.
