TALLINN, April 8 (LETA--BNS) - Merko Majas, a company of Estonian construction group Merko Ehitus, has launched the Petersala apartment development project in Riga, which will see the construction of 105 new homes and four commercial spaces across four buildings.

The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2028 in the prestigious and quiet central district of Riga, at Petersala 3 and 5. The architectural ensemble consists of four buildings, two of which-Valensis and Selonija-are designated as architectural heritage. Merko Majas will reconstruct these buildings, originally designed by the renowned Latvian architect Konstantins Peksens. The two new buildings in the quarter will be named Fera and Amia.

Apartment sizes will range from 30 to 150 square meters, with prices per square meter between EUR 3,689 and EUR 4,905. The quarter will feature one- to five-room apartments with various layouts, including either balconies overlooking the courtyard or private terraces. Exclusive two-level lofts are planned for the upper floors of the two new buildings, while the top floor of the historic Selonija building will have attic apartments with ceiling heights of up to 4.7 meters and skylights in every room.

The buildings in the Petersala project will have a Class A energy rating. All apartments will be equipped with underfloor heating and a heat recovery ventilation system, and top-floor apartments will also include air conditioning. Parking spaces and storage units will be located in an underground garage beneath three of the buildings. Additionally, Merko will create a landscaped courtyard with playgrounds and recreational areas. A common courtyard will connect the Petersala residential environment with Merko's previous Viesturdarzs project, giving residents of the new quarter direct access to Viesturdarzs Park.
