Vilnius, Oct 30, (LETA--ELTA) - Lithuanian retail chain Maxima Grupe's delivery service company Barbora will cease operations in Daugavpils, Liepaja and other regions of the Baltic states from Saturday, November 1, Lithuanian Verslo Zinios news portal reported.

Barbora will also cease operations in the East Voru County in Estonia, as well as in Panevezys and Siauliai in Lithuania.

The company's general director, Povilas Sulys, explained to the portal the decision to suspend operations in these Lithuanian regions because of unsatisfactory operating results.

"We have therefore taken the difficult decision to cease operations in these cities. We do not intend to further reduce our geography and will concentrate all our efforts on Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Marijampole and Alita, as well as neighboring settlements," Sulys said.

At the same time, the website of Barbora Latvia states that supplies will be suspended indefinitely after an assessment of demand. "If the situation changes, we will inform about a possible resumption," the statement said.

The information also indicates that Barbora has suspended deliveries to Janupe, Plakanciems, Mellupi, Vaivadi, Davi, Stipnieki, Lapsas and Dzerumi as of October 11, 2025.

According to the information available on Barbora's website, in Latvia deliveries are made to Riga, Jurmala, Olaine, Kekava, Salaspils, Ikskile, Ogre and the surrounding area, as well as Jelgava. In Estonia, deliveries are available in Tallinn and Tartu.

Barbora Polska, the group's home delivery business in various Polish cities, closed its doors in March last year.

The Group is part of the Lithuanian group Vilniaus Prekyba, controlled by Nerius Numa.
