Riga, Feb 27 (LETA) - Jurmala municipality will invest EUR 2,539,961 to improve the micro-mobility infrastructure in Priedaine, according to a decision approved at the council meeting on Thursday.

The lawmakers decided to support the municipality's participation in the European Union's cohesion policy call for proposals for a project to improve the accessibility of Priedaine railway station by renovating the cycling infrastructure and parking in the immediate vicinity of the station and promoting sustainable multimodal mobility.

The municipality hopes that the project will improve the accessibility of the station and the adjacent area for micro-mobility users, increase road safety and improve the quality of the urban environment for residents and visitors. It will also encourage the use of public transport and create an attractive attraction through the construction of a landscaped cycle path.

The project is planned to run from June 2026 to December 2029.

The total indicative cost of the project is EUR 2,539,961, of which EUR 2,503,259 is eligible, including EUR 1,000,000 from the European Regional Development Fund and EUR 1,503,259 co-financed by the municipality, and EUR 36,702 are non-eligible costs.
