New coalition agreement to be signed at the Riga City Council after Easter - Stakis

RIGA, March 31 (LETA) - A new Riga City Council coalition agreement will be signed after Easter, Riga Mayor Martins Stakis (For/Progressives) said in an interview with the Latvian public radio.

Discussions on the new cooperation agreement have been started right after adoption of the Riga City Council budget. The agreement has been achieved and the politicians are ready to sign the coalition agreement.

Along with the new coalition agreement, lawmakers from For Latvia's Development party will legally join the coalition.

As reported, when former environment protection and regional development minister Juris Puce (For Latvia's Development) was caught lying about a free parking ticket from the Riga City Council, the party left the coalition and established a separate faction. The party's representative Viesturs Zeps said that the party found the suspicions unacceptable.

The Riga City Council coalition joins For Latvia's Development, Movement For and Progressives, New Unity, the National Alliance and Latvia's Alliance of Regions, as well as the New Conservative Party.
