Over 30% of Latvia's new Covid-19 cases recorded in Riga; increase in cases also in Ropazi region
RIGA, Jan 15 (LETA) - Out of the 1,084 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Latvia over the past 24 hours, over 30 percent were recorded in Riga and a steep rise in coronavirus cases was also reported in the Ropazi region, according to the data released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).
The 342 new cases discovered in Riga brought the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases in the Latvian capital to 3,598. In Daugavpils, the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases reached 976, with 67 cases discovered in the past 24 hours.
The Ropazi region recorded 57 new Covid-19 cases, which increased its cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases to 116.
In Jelgava, the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases rose to 475, with 52 new cases registered in the past 24 hours.
With 3,598 Covid-19 cases recorded in the past two weeks, Riga remains the municipality with the highest cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases, followed by Daugavpils with 976, Rezekne with 489, Jelgava with 475, Jekabpils with 363, Talsi region with 285, Jurmala with 265 and Liepaja with 256 cases.
Latvia's cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population is now 652.7.
