RIGA, Nov 11 (LETA) - At the end of October, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.1 percent of the economically active population, which is the same as at the end of September, according to information published by the State Employment Agency (NVA).

At the end of October 2024, a total of 44,889 unemployed people were registered with the NVA, which is 406 more than a month earlier, when 46,483 unemployed people were registered with the agency.

The lowest registered unemployment rate at the end of October was still in the Riga region - 4 percent of the economically active population, which is 0.1 percentage points less than at the end of September, while the highest registered unemployment rate was in the Latgale region - 10.3 percent, the same as a month ago.

The fastest rise in registered unemployment in October was in Kurzeme - by 0.2 percentage points, accounting for 4.9 percent of the economically active population at the end of the month.

In Zemgale and Vidzeme, the registered unemployment rate did not change and was 4.8 percent and 5 percent respectively.

At the end of last year, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.7 percent of the economically active population.
