28% of Latvia's latest Covid-19 cases registered in Riga
RIGA, Jan 13 (LETA) - Out of the 1,255 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Latvia over the past 24 hours, 28 percent have been recorded in Riga and the number of infections has increased also in the Priekuli region, according to the data released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).
The 349 new cases discovered in Riga brought the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases in the Latvian capital to 3,746.
In the Priekuli region, which last year saw one of the first Covid-19 outbreaks at Latvia's nursing homes, reported 32 new cases as the 14-day number of Covid-19 cases in the region rose to 49.
In Daugavpils, the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases reached 966, with 75 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours.
The cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases in Rezekne rose to 531, with 44 cases recorded in the past 24 hours. In Jekabpils, 40 new cases brought the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases to 408, and in Jelgava 39 cases recorded in the past day increased the cumulative 14-day number of cases to 480.
There are no more municipalities in Latvia without a Covid-19 case confirmed in the past two weeks.
With 3,746 Covid-19 cases recorded in the past two weeks, Riga remains the municipality with the highest cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases, followed by Daugavpils with 966, Rezekne with 531, Jelgava with 480, Jekabpils with 408, Talsi region with 328, Liepaja with 272 cases and Jurmala with 253 cases.
Latvia's cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population is now 680.9.
