Jurmala budget for next year will be 15% higher than 2025 plan
Riga, Dec 15 (LETA) - The budget of Jurmala municipality for the next year will be 15.35 percent higher than the planned budget for 2025, according to a draft decision of the Jurmala city council to be approved at the council meeting on December 18.
The municipality's 2026 budget forecasts revenues of EUR 133,329,514, a 13.26 percent increase on the 2025 budget's updated revenue plan. But compared to the initially approved 2025 budget revenue plan of EUR 115,587,575, the increase is 15.35 percent.
The municipality can plan for a higher financial volume, given that the revenue from the personal income tax will increase by EUR 13,168,303 in the coming year compared to the 2025 updated plan. The revenue from the vehicle entry tax will increase by EUR 1,560,000 compared to the 2025 updated plan. Budget transfers are expected to be EUR 1,057,857 higher than this year's updated figures.
According to the investment plan, the major investments in 2026 will be in the city's infrastructure. These include measures to tackle flooding and coastal erosion risks from the Lielupe River in Dubulti-Majori-Dzintari, construction works at the Jurmala Ludis Berzins' Elementary School, and the reconstruction of the pre-school education institution Bitite.
In 2026, it is also planned to continue investing in the development and maintenance of the water management infrastructure, the improvement and development of the storm water drainage and land reclamation system, the improvement of the quality of roads and streets, and traffic safety improvements.
The municipal budget expenditure for next year is planned at EUR 132,105,067.
However, the municipality could borrow EUR 6,898,287 next year.
