In two weeks we might vaccinate all social care clients and employees - Petravica

RIGA, Feb 15 (LETA) - There is active vaccination going on in state and municipal social care centers and in two weeks all clients and employees will receive the jabs, said Welfare Minister Ramona Petravica (KPV LV) in an interview with the Latvian public television today.

Petravica said that so far more than 8,000 social care center clients and 2,700 employees have voiced their wish for the vaccine, and so far 500 of them have received the vaccines.

"Vaccination continues this week, I hope that it will take up speed and in two weeks we will have managed to vaccinate all social care center clients and employees," the minister said.

Asked about the current situation with Covid-19 incidence in social care centers, Petravica said that the situation is changing, but shows signs of improvement.

As reported, last Friday Latvia received 3,600 Moderna vaccines and 9,600 AstraZeneca vaccines. More vaccines are expected to arrive later in February.
