Participants of tender offer to reconstruct Suspension Bridge in Riga for EUR 70 million

RIGA, Sept 19 (LETA) - Companies participating in a tender to reconstruct the Vansu Bridge (Suspension Bridge) in Riga offer to do the job for roughly EUR 70 million, according to information from the Electronic Procurement System.

These bids are around 30 percent less costly than those received last year.

In all, two companies have submitted their bids in the tender.

Operator association Vansu Tikls, comprising Hanza Construction Group, Tilts and Baltijas Maksligo Buvju Projektesanas Birojs Vektors T, has proposed a contract price of EUR 69,802,998.

Operator association BBVA, comprising Baltijas Buve, Arbora, the Latvian-Lithuanian joint venture Viadukts and general partnership 3A, offers to renovate the bridge for EUR 70,327,026.

As reported, a tender to renovate the Suspension Bridge that was organized last year was suspended after only one bidder applied, offering an excessively high contract price - around EUR 100 million, according to LETA's information.

Reconstruction of Suspension Bridge will be carried out based on the design-build method. The timeframe for the contract is currently provisional, with a maximum of 12 months for the design process and 24 months for reconstruction of the bridge.

According to the municipality, there are 145 bridges, overpasses and pedestrian tunnels in Riga. Riga City Council is currently working on reconstruction of dilapidated bridges and overpasses in good time to prevent critical situations from occurring.
