    Seven municipalities turn to government seeking more than EUR 400,000 compensation for damage caused by heavy rains

    RIGA, Aug 12 (LETA) - Seven municipalities are seeking more than EUR 400,000 in compensation from the government for damage caused by heavy rains this summer, the Smart Administration and Regional Development Ministry's Public Relations Department informed LETA.

    Three municipalities' compensation claims for damage caused by the July rains have been supported by the Smart Administration and Regional Development Ministry and forwarded to the Finance Ministry for approval.

    The three include Preili Region Council, which is seeking compensation of EUR 53,008, Ludza Region Council - EUR 19,714, and Augsdaugava Region Council - EUR 251,385.

    Another four municipalities' applications for compensation are still pending.

    Aluksne Region Council is seeking EUR 24,674 compensation, Rezekne Region Council - EUR 14,431, Kraslava Region Council - EUR 30,880, and Balvi Region Council - EUR 73,689.
