New Unity wins 14th Saeima elections in Vidzeme electoral district
RIGA, Oct 2 (LETA) - New Unity has safely won the 14th Saeima elections in the Vidzeme electoral district where the party has garnered 23.46 percent of the vote, which might mean seven mandates in parliament, the Central Election Commission's data shows.
The United List is second in Vidzeme with 12.62 percent, Union of Greens and Farmers is third with 12.1 percent and National Alliance fourth with 11.39 percent of the vote. Each of these parties has likely won four mandates.
Meanwhile, 7.41 percent of voters in Vidzeme have supported Development/For, 5.95 percent have voted for the Progressives and 5.14 percent for Latvia First. These parties might get two mandates each. For Stability has likely received one mandate with 3.04 percent of the vote in Vidzeme.
The situation, however, can still change as the overall results of two parties - Development/For and Harmony - are very close to the 5 percent mark necessary to win representation in parliament. Development/For is currently slightly above the 5 percent threshold and Harmony just below that mark.
