Vidzeme hospital's neurology department with stroke unit closed due to Covid-19 outbreak
RIGA, Dec 18 (LETA) - As several medics, including neurologists, contracted Covid-19, Vidzeme hospital's neurology department with the stroke unit has been closed for a period of about two weeks, the hospital's spokeswoman Benita Brila informed LETA.
During this time, acute patients with suspicions of stroke will be taken to stroke clinics in Riga or stroke unit in Rezekne regional hospital.
Patients with other neurological problems will be taken to Aluksne hospital and other nearest hospitals where services of neurological specialists are available.
Medics remind that every second is of importance in the treatment of stroke. The sooner the Emergency Medical Service is called, the sooner the necessary assistance can be provided.
As reported, on Thursday, four Covid-19 patients were admitted to Vidzeme hospital, and one was discharged. The hospital currently is treating 34 Covid-19 patients, and three of them are in a severe condition.
