1,274 Ukrainians have received assistance in Liepaja and Dienvidkurzeme municipality
RIGA, May 16 (LETA) - As many as 1,274 civilians from Ukraine have so far found refuge from war in their country in Liepaja City and Dienvidkurzeme municipality in southwestern Latvia, LETA was told at the Liepaja local authority.
A total of 1,015 refugees have settled in Liepaja and 259 in Dienvidkurzeme municipality.
Nongovernmental organization Tabita's Heart has provided humanitarian assistance clothes, hygiene goods, bedclothes, furniture, etc. - to 123 Ukrainian refugees.
An information center for arrivals in Liepaja has provided 166 consultations by telephone and 22 in-person consultations to Ukrainians. Psychological counsel has been provided to three refugees.
At present, 77 Ukrainian kids are learning at Liepaja's schools and 47 children attend kindergartens in the city.
The local authority has provided accommodation to 166 persons.
