Riga municipal budget projected to grow by EUR 74 million next year
RIGA, Nov 20 (LETA) - The budget of Riga City is projected to grow by EUR 74 million next year, Riga Mayor Vilnis Kirsis (New Unity) said at a news conference Wednesday.
Consequently, the Latvian capital's 2025 budget might grow to an estimated EUR 1.5 billion.
Kirsis said he could not reveal next year's budget priorities before political agreements are reached but stressed that work on the budget is progressing.
As LETA reported, the Riga City Council is scheduled to decide today on amendments to the capital city's 2024 budget.
Under the draft amendments to the municipal budget for this year, budget revenue is projected to grow by EUR 65.4 million.
As a result of the budget amendments, revenue in the Riga budget would grow from around EUR 1.355 billion to EUR 1.420 billion.
Meanwhile, budget expenditure would increase by EUR 38.3 million, from EUR 1.546 billion to EUR 1.584 billion.
Consequently, the Latvian capital city's budget expenditure will exceed revenue by an estimated EUR 164 million.
