Valka and Valga municipalities need their own "bubble" for curbing Covid-19 spread - Valka mayor
RIGA, June 29 (LETA) - Municipalities of Latvia's Valka and Estonia's Valga border towns need their own "bubble" for curbing Covid-19 spread, said Valka mayor Vents Armands Krauklis (Vidzeme's Party) after the informal meeting of Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas with the mayors of Valka and Valga on Monday.
Krauklis underscored that free movement from one town to the other is an important and integral part of the residents of Valka and Valga, therefore it is important that restrictions are the same in both towns.
"We are using every opportunity to show the top state officials and underscore the uniqueness of Valka-Valga, so that officials both in Tallinn and Riga are aware of it," he said.
In the new planning period, there will be less funds for Estonian-Latvian transborder cooperation program, therefore it is important to plan the most important task for further development between both countries.
