Kaminskis reelected to chair Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments
RIGA, Aug 20 (LETA) - Delegates at the 31st congress of the Latvian Association of Local Governments (LPS) on Friday reelected Guntis Kaminskis as the association's chairman.
Kaminskis said after the vote on his reelection that significant goals can only be reached together. "If there is support from everyone, LPS will be able to defend its stance in talks with the prime minister and ministries," Kaminskis said.
He also underlined that local governments and their leaders are the ones that will do everything to ensure that municipalities are stable.
Kaminskis was first elected LPS chairman in 2017. Before that, he had been a member and chairman of Auce Council.
Kaminskis ran in this year's local elections on the Greens/Farmers ticket and was elected to Dobele Council where his party was left in opposition.
