Riga, Nov 19 (LETA) - Next week, on November 25, the National Library of Latvia will host a conference "Foreign Students for Latvia. Opportunity or Risk?" to seek solutions on how to use the potential of foreign students more efficiently in Latvia's economy, association With World Experience in Latvia informed LETA.

The event will present the results of the study "Integration of International Students and Employment Opportunities in Latvia", conducted by the Baltic International Centre for Economic Policy Studies. It reveals that the potential of international students in Latvia is not fully exploited, while Finland, Estonia and Denmark have long-standing strategic policies to retain the best talents.

The conference will look at the approaches of Finland, Estonia, the Czech Republic and Denmark in attracting international students and discuss potential courses of action for public administrations, universities and employers.

The event will be opened by Culture Minister Agnese Lace (Progressives). The discussions will be attended by Aigars Rostovskis, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Riga Vice Mayor Edvards Ratnieks (National Alliance), Kaspars Briskens (Progressives), Head of the Saeima committee on national economy, rural, environmental and regional policy, Baiba Baskere, Director of the Human Capital Development Department of the Economics Ministry, Zane Varpina, Associate Professor at the Riga School of Economics (SSE Riga), as well as representatives of state and educational institutions, business leaders, journalists and students.
