    Riga City Council sets up Anti-Corruption and Good Governance Committee

    RIGA, Nov 12 (LETA) - Riga City Council on Wednesday approved the establishment of the Anti-Corruption and Good Governance Committee.

    The committee will be chaired by Inese Voika (New Unity), one of the founders of Transparency International - Latvia. Martins Kossovics (Progressives) will be her deputy.

    The committee's members will be councilors Rudolfs Bremanis (Sovereign Power/New Latvians), Girts Lapins (National Alliance) who also chairs the municipality's Security, Public Order, and Corruption Prevention Committee, Martins Sics (United List), Eduards Zivtins (Latvia First), and Aleksejs Roslikovs (For Stability).

    Also working on the committee will be Riga City Council's executive director, head of the Audit Department, deputy head of the Central Administration's Legal Department, and head of the Human Resources Department.

    The committee will evaluate information regarding potential violations at municipal institutions, municipal companies, and in activities of Riga City Council's members.
