Greens/Farmers has contested election results in the Dienvidkurzeme municipality

Riga, June 13 (LETA) - The Union of Greens and Farmers (Greens/Farmers) has contested the election results in Dienvidkurzeme municipality, the current chairman of the council Aivars Priedols (Greens/Farmers) confirmed to LETA.

Although the Greens/Farmers list won 24.85 percent of the votes in the municipal elections, the most of any political force, Priedols admits that he had a feeling that there would be more votes. The party has received reports from rural residents that there had been "all sorts of campaigning miracles" on the election day. He believes that the counting errors are due to the electoral system and that the ballot papers should be recounted, but it is unlikely that this will happen.

Priedols said that he has invited all the political forces with whom he has worked together so far to work together, but they are all waiting for some other development. Asked whether coalition-building talks are taking place in the municipality, Priedols admitted that they are, but without the participation of Greens/Farmers.

The party's complaint will be considered by the Central Election Commission (CVK) on Saturday, June 14.

As reported earlier, Greens/Farmers won the most votes in the municipal elections in Dienvidkurzeme municipality, according to data published by the CVK.

Counting the votes in all 28 polling stations in the Dienvidkurzeme municipality, Greens/Farmers received 24.85 percent of the votes, which will ensure five seats in the City Council.

The National Alliance came second with 24.78 percent of the vote, which will give it five seats on the council.

The third place with 20.49 percent of the votes went to New Unity, which will also give this party five seats in the Council.

The Latvian Association of Regions has also entered the council, with 20.22 percent of the vote, giving it four seats.

According to the CVK data, 45.25 percent of eligible voters participated in the municipal elections in Dienvidkurzeme municipality.
