Interest in lawmakers' mandates in Rezekne city council drops by half
RIGA, April 15 (LETA) - In the upcoming local elections, interest in lawmakers' mandates in Rezekne city council has dropped by half, according to the information published by the Centra Election Commission.
There should be 13 lawmakers elected to Rezekne city council also this year. In 2017, there were 11 tickets with 162 candidates submitted for the elections, while this year there are just five tickets with 80 candidates.
Harmony that is in the current coalition in the city, will run with mayor Aleksandrs Bartasevics as No.1 on its ticket.
The National Alliance, Latvia's Green Party, New Unity, Latvia's Association of Regions and Latgale Party have jointed forces with Inara Groce and Juris Guntis Vjakse as their top candidates.
Other three parties that have submitted their tickets are not currently represented at the Rezekne City Council - the New Conservative Party, Organization Residents, and the Progressives.
The local elections will be held in June.
