Councils of newly created regions will have significant role to play in smart reindustrialization - PM Karins
RIGA, May 21 (LETA) - The councils of Latvia's newly created regions will have a significant role to play in the process of smart reindustrialization, Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) said in his address to members of the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments.
As the prime minister's spokesman Sandis Sabajevs told LETA, in the association's May 21 meeting, which was held by videolink, Karins underlined the so-called smart reindustrialization as Latvia's future development direction.
The prime minister said that the councils of the newly created regions, which will start work after this year's June 5 local elections, will have a significant role to play in the smart reindustrialization process.
Promoting more even employment across Latvia is no less important, Karins believes. The prime minister noted that around EUR 40 million have been earmarked in the recovery facility for construction of apartment houses in Latvia's regions.
