Latvia hopes to receive almost 60,000 Covid-19 vaccines in February
RIGA, Feb 9 (LETA) - In February, Latvia hopes to receive almost 60,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines from Moderna and AstraZeneca, while deliveries of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines are not planned this month, according to the information presented by Health Minister Daniels Pavluts (For Development) to the Cabinet of Ministers today.
On February 7, Latvia received 7,200 AstraZeneca vaccines that primarily will be allocated to health care employees, while secondary - also to social care centers.
On February 11 or February 12, Latvia might receive 3,600 Moderna vaccines, and on February 22-28, another batch with 15,600 Moderna vaccines.
AstraZeneca is expected to deliver 9,600 vaccines on February 13, and 22,621 vaccines on February 20.
A significantly larger vaccine delivery with 32,896 doses of Covid-19 vaccines can be expected from AstraZeneca on March 3.
The minister also informs in the presentation that by Monday, 61,500 Latvian residents have applied for vaccination on manavakcina.lv portal. The Russian-language version of the portal will be available next week, while on February 10 hotline 8989 will start work, where people also can call on register for vaccination.
Of the 33,825 vaccines delivered so far to Latvia, 31,989 doses have been administered already. Immunization has taken place in 43 medical establishments.
The share of vaccinated residents so far reaches 2.3 percent in Riga, 1.3 percent in Kurzeme and Vidzeme, 0.9 percent in Zemgale and 0.5 percent in Latgale.
