Residents returning to Latvia from third countries by land will have to take Covid-19 tests and go in self-isolation
RIGA, March 18 (LETA) - Residents returning to Latvia from third countries by land will have to take Covid-19 tests and go in self-isolation, the Cabinet of Ministers decided today
The government decided earlier that starting March 17, all residents returning to Latvia from third countries will have to take Covid-19 tests at their own expense and go in self-isolation. As this decision referred to arrivals by air, today the Cabinet of Minister adjusted the requirements also to arrivals by land.
According to the government's decision, all residents returning to Latvia after nonessential travel to a third country would have to take Covid-19 tests. If the test is negative, the person will be permitted to return to his or her residence for a ten-day self-isolation period.
If the test is positive, the person will immediately proceed to one of the hotels on the Latvian Investment and Development Agency's list for quarantine.
The government also decided that the tourist accommodation establishments will have to inform the State Police if persons staying there for quarantine isolation purposes are absent for a night or longer.
Persons returning to Latvia from third countries will have to cover the entire cost of Covid-19 tests and hotel stays.
