In March, 495 passengers asked to leave public transport vehicle because they are not wearing face masks
RIGA, March 18 (LETA) - In March, 495 passengers have been asked to leave the public transport vehicle in Riga because they were not wearing face masks, said Rigas Satiksme public relations department head Baiba Bartaseciva-Feldmane.
Rigas Satiksme ticket inspectors and the Municipal Police have carried out 1,173 inspections on March 1-14 to see how epidemiological regulations are followed.
As many as 41 passengers were fined for not wearing face masks.
Also, Rigas Satiksme ticket inspectors carried out 10,812 inspections without presence of the Municipal Police.
Rigas Satiksme explained that 98 percent of passengers are wearing face masks and following epidemiological safety requirements.
In case a passenger is not wearing a face masks or is not wearing it correctly, the passenger is asked to rectify the situation. If the passenger refuses to do that, he is asked to leave the transport vehicle. If the inspection is conducted in cooperation with the Municipal Police, an administrative offense procedure is launched.
