(w/ADD) Shortcomings found during audit at Riga Investment and Tourism Agency
(with additional information throughout)
RIGA, Feb 26 (LETA) - Several shortcomings have been identified during an audit at Riga Investment and Tourism Agency carried out by Riga City Council, the agency told LETA.
Riga City Council's Executive Director Janis Lange told reporters that the audit at Riga Investment and Tourism Agency commenced last year and concluded on February 6 this year. Riga City Council's Audit Department's report was forwarded to the Legal Affairs Department, which had to decide whether there were grounds for launching disciplinary proceedings.
The Legal Affairs Department informed Lange on February 21 that there were sufficient grounds for assessing Riga Investment and Tourism Agency head Freds Bikovs' suitability.
Only Riga City Council may take decisions on municipal agencies, including on launching disciplinary proceedings against Bikovs, therefore Riga City Council will hold an extraordinary meeting at 1 p.m. today.
Lange did not reveal what violations had been ascertained at Riga Investment and Tourism Agency, he only said that the audit examined the agency's public procurement procedures and co-financing program.
