RIGA, April 28 (LETA) - A total of 29 people who participated in a concert in Cesis on April 16 have tested positive for Covid-19, LETA was told at the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

The CDC has been working with this outbreak for a second week already and has traced a great number of contacts. Most of the infected persons are choristers and orchestra musicians. 

According to the CDC, this concert, which was dedicated to renowned Latvian composer Peteris Vasks' 75th birthday, cannot be regarded as a public event, as it was meant to be broadcast on the radio and television. At the same time, there are special testing guidelines for artists and musicians participating in such group performances. 

Mara Jegere, a representative of the State Academic Choir Latvia, which participated in the concert 'Klatbutne' (Presence) in Cesis, declined comments on the outbreak. 

Krista Luize Priedite, a representative of Latvian Television, told LETA that ten TV employees were immediately sent into self-isolation after the news of the infections among the concert's participants broke.

"Unfortunately, two of the self-isolating employees were found to have the infection, but the others are due to return to work in the next few days," Priedite said.
