Police on Saturday registered 19 possible incidents related to campaigning violations and vote buying
RIGA, June 5 (LETA) - On Saturday, the State Police (VP) registered a total of 19 incidents related to possible campaigning violations, public order violations, as well as the possible vote buying, the State Police told LETA.
Five administrative violation proceedings and four departmental inspections have been initiated in connection with violations of pre-election campaigning.
In these local government elections, the State Police has more often received information on possible cases of vote buying, and in connection with these cases, the State Police has initiated five departmental investigations - two in the Riga, two in Zemgale and one in the Vidzeme region.
Four breaches of public order have also been reported and are still being investigated.
In the opinion of the State Security Service (SSS), election day was spent without significant incidents, LETA found out from the SSS.
The SSS continues to receive various types of information about possible violations, including attempts to illegally influence voters.
Some cases have already been inspected by the SSS without confirmation of possible illegal activities, but in some cases the inspection is still ongoing.
