Riga municipal utilities services will not issue fines for delayed payments
RIGA, Sept 27 (LETA) - Riga municipal utilities services will not issue fines for delayed payments from September 1, and will not discontinue service, LETA was told by the Riga City Council's communications department.
This will be for heating, water and building manegements services.
The executive director of the city of Riga, Janis Lange, previously called on the municipal companies, which provide utilities and management services to Riga residents, to implement socially responsible commercial activities and support residents in this situation where energy resources has risen considerably.
The companies have agreed, without interrupting the provision of utility services, not to continue the calculation of fines and late interest and, if possible, to agree on later payment of services if clients are in circumstances that prevent them from making timely payments.
