Brante to run for Riga City Council elections together with party For Latvia's Development
Riga, Feb 21 (LETA) - Riga City Council lawmakers Ieva Brante has joined the party For Latvia's Development and will run in the municipal elections on the party's list.
As LETA was informed by the party, negotiations with candidates for the upcoming Riga City Council elections in June are currently underway.
"Our team has been complemented by a strong candidate - Ieva Brante, who has proven herself in the professional field as an excellent lawyer and at the same time has an excellent knowledge of how public administration works," said Juris Puce, the party's candidate for the Riga mayor.
Brante told LETA that she had already left her previous party, the Latvian Association of Regions, in November last year.
It is now an open question whether she will continue to work for the National Alliance/Latvian Regions Alliance faction or move to the faction of For Latvia's Development. This depends on the opinion of her colleagues in the faction.
As reported earlier, Puce will be joined in the elections by former education and science minister Anita Muizniece, Riga City Council lawmakers Iveta Ratinika, Viesturs Zeps and former environmental protection and regional development minister Arturs Toms Pless, and others.
