Tuesday morning - coldest in past two years
RIGA, Jan 20 (LETA) - This morning is the coldest morning in Latvia since January 8, 2024, according to data from meteorological observation stations.
According to information from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center (LVGMC), the air temperature at 5 a.m. ranged from -10.2 degrees in Ventspils to -20.6 degrees in Mersrags, -20.9 degrees in Skriveri, and -22.4 degrees in Daugavpils and Madona.
This is the harshest cold in the country since January 8, 2024, when the air temperature reached -30 degrees in some places in Latgale.
In Riga, the temperature dropped to -14 degrees in the city center early this morning and -18 degrees near the airport.
