New company registration in Latvia up 8.8% in January-May - Lursoft
RIGA, Jun 3 (LETA) - In the first five months of this year, 4,741 new companies were registered in Latvia, which is an increase of 8.8 percent compared to the same period of 2025, according to information available in the Lursoft business database.
In May, new business registrations declined 1.1 percent year-on-year, with 834 companies registered during the month.
The total share capital of the new companies registered in May this year totaled EUR 3.14 million, Lursoft reports.
More than 90 percent of the new enterprises registered in May 2026 are limited liability companies. The enterprises registered in May also include 58 individual business operators, eight farming enterprises, five branches of foreign companies, two limited partnerships, one branch, and one cooperative.
Among the companies registered last month, limited liability company Ronu 4 stands out as the leader in terms of share capital, as Mukusalas Maja has invested EUR 1 million in the company's capital. The core business of the new enterprise is the rental and management of own or leased real estate.
According to Lursoft, 44.8 percent of the new companies were registered in Riga in May. The largest company outside Riga last month, with a share capital of EUR 384,000, is Baltic Composite Fuel in Ropazi municipality. Its shareholder Antvort is active in the real estate sector.
The third largest newly registered company in May is the developer of construction projects Tehwin, with EUR 195,400 invested in its share capital.
In May, new companies were established in almost all Latvian municipalities. The only exception is Valka municipality, where no new companies were registered last month. The business balance of Valka municipality for the first five months of this year is negative - only three new companies have been registered in the municipality, while eight have been liquidated.
In May, 383 companies were liquidated in Latvia. Since the beginning of the year the figure has reached 2,378, Lursoft reports.
In May, 104 new companies managed to attract foreign capital, mainly from Lithuania and Ukraine. The largest foreign capital company registered last month is Baltic Shield Group. Three legal entities from Italy invested a total of EUR 37,500 in the company's share capital. The fourth shareholder is Atlas Holding Company, a Latvian company.
